Suzanne is focused on and only handles second-parent adoptions for alternative families, typically those with two mothers, two fathers, or a transgender parent. These Texas adoptions create families with two legal parents who both have the same rights and responsibilities. Suzanne is passionate about these adoptions and her legal practice is dedicated solely to obtaining this protection for families throughout Texas. Since 1995, gay adoption in Texas has been the focus of Suzanne Bryant Law where she has successfully handled second parent adoptions for hundreds of Texas families.
After graduating from Duke Law School in 1986, Suzanne was a founding board member and later co-chair of the grassroots organization that is now the National LGBT Bar Association. She has received numerous awards from organizations including The Human Rights Campaign, The Texas Civil Rights Project and the State Bar of Texas.
She was invited to be a member of the National Family Law Advisory Council, which is sponsored by the National Center for Lesbian Rights and is honored to serve on the Family Equality Council Advisory Board.
Suzanne and her wife Sarah Goodfriend have been together over thirty years and are raising two wonderful teenage daughters. Suzanne and Sarah were the first legally married gay couple in Texas – four months before the US Supreme Court decision.
Suzanne believes that opportunities to make a difference in the world are everywhere and encourages everyone to watch for their own personal chance to create positive change.
